I think this meme is for all audiences. I think it is a nice way to show gay marriage. It is not aggressive or sarcastic it is just to the exact point that all Peeps deserve love. They all are the same. I think the creator of this meme made it so simple and kid like because everyone should understand marriage as simple and equal. I would connect this meme to Rushkoff more as he challenges different ways of thinking. He believes you should be open minded and as technology is constantly changing so repeople and choices, and views and life as we know it so we all need to be open minded with gay marriage
This meme is serious in the sense that gay marriage really affects no one and everyone in society think they need to be involved in the choice of gay marriage when it should just be for those involved in the relationship. Connecting to Rushkoff marriage is a Choice so marriage should be a personal choice that you get to decide not the whole world.
I think this meme is funny because it is showing how when gay marriage got legalized everyone was freaking out when really it affected nothing and no one. By one thing getting legalized does not mean that everything is going to become legal. This is along the lines of Rushkoff complexity that not one size fits all, just because one thing happens doesn’t mean everything will change it just a small act affecting those who are homosexual getting married.
This meme is sarcastic as this is my favorite man from Project runway. He loves fabric so he is making a play on words but it is funny to show us that society is being so dramatic and trying to show those listening what they are actually saying and how ridiculous it is. Connecting to Rushkoff saying to be more open. We need to be open to all sorts of ideas and let those make their own choices.
This meme is funny because it shows one man making the decision for the homosexuals. As he makes the choice you could say his outfit is funny or different as that is what people say about gay marriage. As Rushkoff and Boyd say we all have a purpose and we need to focus on ourselves and not others. You need to be open minded to new ideas.
I love this meme. This meme is so serious. How does gay marriage affect anyone unless they are gay getting married. Society thinks it is their business to know all about gay marriage but realistically there is no affect to us and it does not change our world at all. With boyd saying we can’t control everything. We really need to choice our battle on what o change and clearly one about gay marriage that does not affect our personal life is not the right battle.
This meme is super serious. I think its an issue that people who don’t even believe in marriage or religion can get married but we wasted so much time not letting homosexuals who do believe in marriage and religion and we stopped them from getting married. Connection from Rushkoff there is always a scale where there are so many different types of cases and we can’t judge everyone as one of the same.
This meme is sad but true. In this world we have so much greater issues going on but we continue to worry about issues that do not even affect us badly. Like boyd said we need to teach kids the real issues in the real world not just with technology. Just like technology is constantly evolving so is the worlds issues and choices and we need to get used to the new surroundings and be open minded.
This meme is funny but sarcastic as well. As we know Oprah gives away a lot of stuff and some people believed the government giving away too much with healthcare than gay marriage. It is making fun of gay marriage and how it seems like everyone can get married now. I think every love is different so we shouldn’t just assume the gays as a whole and treat each love separately. Connecting to Rushkoff we need to be openminded to all “love” and use our purpose to our OWN best capability. Life is not fair so just worry about yourself!
This meme is creepy but means so much truth. Today you see the randomest people marrying a tree or dog and then its like really but a homosexual couple couldn’t have gotten married?! The government and society decides to involve ourselves in issues that do not affect us or are not the biggest issues on our plate. Like boyd said we need to worry about the bigger picture not just social media but what is being shown on social media and what is actually happening in the world. The world is always evolving and marriages will constantly change and so will society. Connecting to Rushkoff the choice is ours to be open minded and not always right. We are not always right about our opinions on certain social issues.
I got these memes from Memegan, Reddit and Know your Meme. This project was super interesting to use memes in a social political way and to depict them. I used the social issue of gay marriage. Gay marriage has always been seen as a social issue when it only effect those who are getting married who are homosexual but it interests me and Rushkoff and Boyd helped show what the memes were describing and what us as society must do with a constant evolving world. From a standpoint of being heterosexual it has showed me so much of our society being so involved in a topic that does not affect us or the future of our country even. It only affects those getting married who are gay. Every love is different.
